As always, it's been awhile since I've updated. I've been going through a lot of personal stuff, so things have kind of slowed down, but, my spirits and motivations remain as high as always.
I've worked out how Heavy will be released. Originally, I was going to make three books, about ninety pages each to create a nice hardcover trilogy. Unfortunately, I'm not rich and that shit takes some money. I've decided to break up the books into twelve issues, with four issues per story arc. Each issue will be 34 pages, and I'm going to print them in a zine format, 8'X10.5', cause I want something different and a bit hefty. I was inspired by King City by Brandon Graham. It's a neat book, perfect size, and feels like there's some weight to it. When it's all said and done, I'll probably try to do three trades, and then collect everything in a whole big hardcover special edition book, depending on pricing and demand.
I've just finished plotting out the first four issues, or first arc/chapter/whatever, and laid out each issue plotting each page for reveals, surprises, pacing, and the like.
Next step is to thumbnail out the issues, and then start drawing. I'm looking for to (hopefully) get at least the first two issues done within the year and have them ready for Stumptown Comics Festival 2013, along with posters, buttons, baseball cards and an anaglyph 3-D poster.
I've let a few people that I trust read the script for the first issue and the feedback has been extremely positive and I couldn't be happier. This isn't going to be your average adventure comic for sure. The pacing is very noir and very character driven and I'm really working hard to make the events in the book and the story points happen as organically and as naturally as possible.
Stay tuned for more updates!
