I had to fiddle with it some more. In painting, you have to learn when to let go. As true with any artistic endeavour I suppose. My bro Vic was over and confessed he wasn't thrilled with the lightning. "Looks like tree roots." After pondering, I agreed. Then he suggested looking at real lightning, how it glows and has dimension, and resembles a more vascular pattern. All right of course. Then he hit upon the idea of proton streams, and how this energy would be bouncing off the wings to keep them together. Plus sparks, he said. It has to look 'crackly'. He was right again! So I tried to impliment some dimension, and some life to it. I think it came out well. I'll probably go back in with some white and what not. I'm not sure how well this will show up, but, I splattered white for the sparks with a toothbrush, and interestingly, some got on the lower painting. Just these little dots. I went with it, and the effect is these sparks are falling gently behind the robot. Pretty cool. |
