The biggest comment was that COMMUNICATE was the best show Gallery Zero had ever had, which is a GLORIOUS comment. Many people loved the work, and those same many had so many wonderful things to share with me.
You know the difference between a good art show, and a bad art show? In a bad art show, if the art isn't so good, no one really talks about it. A good show? People talk about the art, all night. And that's what happened last night!
I still can't believe it. I didn't believe it before, during or after. It all really seemed like it was someone else's work on the walls. It was hard to believe we did it all in a few short months. I'm super proud. The curator, Randy was overjoyed. People really seemed to dig the vibe of the gallery, and the vibe of the art. It was amazing.
And the funniest thing about it was that the painting people told me they liked the most was the giant rocket cock anal monster chick. People couldn't get enough of it. That's when I realized it wasn't me who was twisted. It was actually very gratifying because of all the paintings that was the one I was most nervous about.
Randy was pleased because he said that represented an artist focusing on an idea, and despite social norms or commonplace ideas, just jumped off the cliff and splattered myself on the rocks. Basically just letting go. And he was right it worked.
All in all it was a very positive experience, and I can't wait to see what the next 29 days brings.
Here's a link of the vids I took. Very short, but, gives a sense of scale and placement.
Enjoy.

It was an amazing feat to get all that work done in such a short amount of time AND to also have it pay off in such a way. If I hadn't have seen it unfold every week, I might have doubted the fact that all the pieces were new...I would've thought you had done some of them years ago, and just pulled them out and SAID you just finished them. That's a TON of production in a short amount of time.
The video walk-throughs give a good idea of scope and also allow us non-Portlanders to get the feel we were there a little.
too cool, man
congratulations, the success is well deserved!
BUt, yeah, it was awesome, and thanks for coming!

Randy has mentioned twice that he'd like to get some prints made depending on any type of demand he sees for them.
I'll keep you posted.
